Episode 13: Staffan Olsson

 

Staffan Olsson has had a truly remarkable handball career both as a player and as a coach. He was part of the Swedish national team nicknamed the Bengan Boys, one of the most exceptional national teams in the sport's history.

Staffan has played in four Olympic Games and won three consecutive Silver Medals. He played in five IHF World Championships and won two Gold Medals, one Silver medal, and two Bronze medals.

He also played and won four European Championship Gold Medals.

At club level, Staffan won four Bundesliga titles with THW Kiel, and in 1999 finished in second place at the EHF Champions League title where he lost to Barcelona’s Dream Team.

As a coach with Hammarby IF Handboll, Staffan won three consecutive titles in the Swedish league. He also led Sweden to the finals of the London Olympics 2012, where they lost to France only by one goal.
